FM HD Radio broadcasting went on the air in Kiev at the 1st of November 2006 employing BE equipment such as FXi 250/60, FXi 10 and Idi 20 on the frequency 101.1FM of Ukrainian radio network “Melodiya”. “UkrService” enterprise in Kiev has installed and implemented the system and is completing testing so HD Radio technology can be implemented across Ukraine. Andriy Karpiy, a chairman of “First Ukrainian Radio Group” that has in its ownership a major commercial Radio network in Ukraine “Melodiya”, has already installed multiple HD Radio transmitters in the country. Before HD Radio broadcasting on the air in Ukraine, Mr. Karpiy gave a speech on the technology at the Eastern European Broadcasting Conference in Kiev in October 2006. His paper was entitled: “Tomorrow comes to Ukraine! Model of step by step integration of analog radio into digital (HD Radio) on the basis of High Definition Technologies.”
